چکیده
ABSTRACT | REFERENCES| REFERENCES Biopsies of skin lesions and clinically normal skin of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), discoid LE (DLE), and various dermatoses were tested by the direct fluorescent antibody technique for the band of localized immunoglobulins at the dermal-epidermal junction present in LE skin. In LE, three immunofluorescent band patterns were found: homogeneous, thready, and stippled. The homogeneous or solid band was seen only in chronic atrophic or hyperkeratotic lesions while the thready band was present in newer erythematous edematous lesions and clinically normal SLE skin. The stippled band was found essentially only in clinically normal SLE skin even in SLE patients without LE skin lesions. Awareness of the different immunofluorescent "band" patterns that may occur at the dermalepidermal junction in LE skin is essential in using the presence of the band as a diagnostic adjunct to confirm a clinical diagnosis of LE possibly even in patients without LE skin lesions. The lupus band test in systemic lupus erythematosus patients
The lupus band test (LBT) is a diagnostic procedure that is used to detect deposits of immunoglobulins and complement components along the dermoepidermal junction in patients with lupus erythematosus (LE). The LBT is positive in about 70%-80% of sun-exposed non-lesional skin specimens obtained from patients with systemic LE (SLE), and in about 55% of SLE cases if sun-protected nonlesional skin ...
متن کاملA Case Report of Phakomatosis Pigmentovascularis in a Patient with Discoid Lupus Erythematosus and Epidermal Naevus
We report phakomatosis pigmentovascularis (PPV) detected in a 40- year-old male characterized by the presence of a port-wine stain in the background of aberrant Mongolian spots covering the back, nevus of Ota, ocular melanosis, epidermal nevus and a scaly patch with the diagnosis of discoid lupus erytematosus. These associations have not been reported yet.
متن کاملImmunoglobulin and complement deposition in skin of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus patients.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was differentiated from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) by direct immunofluorescent techniques on skin specimens, using monospecific antisera for IgG, IgM, C3, C1q, properdin, and fibrin. Of 30 patients with RA studied, 20 had dermal vessel deposits of immunoglobulins and complement components in unaffected skin without the characteristic dermal-epidermal junctional...
متن کاملThe utility of the lupus band test on sun-protected non-lesional skin for the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus.
OBJECTIVE The sensitivity and specificity of the lupus band test was evaluated, using three different criteria, on sun-protected non-lesional skin for the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In addition, the sensitivity and specificity of the lupus band test was compared with those of other laboratory tests used in the diagnosis of SLE. METHODS Sun-protected non-lesional skin bio...
متن کاملThree cases of systemic lupus erythematosus and review of the mechanisms concerning treatment with intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG).
The systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disorder with a broad array of clinical signs. In this research, we aimed to use intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) called intacglobin as monotherapy to manage an SLE in three patients. Laboratory investigations for SLE diagnosis were done, including the detection of anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) and SLE confirmation by detecting high tite...
